About our school

Ardagh National School is a rural school situated between Crossmolina and Ballina, in County Mayo.

Our school has four mainstream classes: junior and senior infants, first and second class, third and fourth class, and fifth and sixth class. We also have a learning support teacher and a special needs assistant.

Pre-school care, Infant Hour and afterschool are run with Tír na nÓg Preschool and Afterschool, in the school's GP room.

  1. 8am

    Pre-school care opens

    From about 8am pupils can come to school, meet their friends and prepare for the day ahead in a warm, well-supervised setting.

  2. 9:25am

    School begins

  3. 2:05pm

    Infant Hour childcare

    Junior and Senior Infants can relax in a safe, fun setting while they wait for older brothers and sisters.

  4. 3:05pm

    School day ends

    The afterschool service starts: homework, time with friends and a healthy snack.

  5. 6pm

    Afterschool ends

How do I enrol my child?

Email the school at ardaghnationalschool@gmail.com for an enrolment pack. Children can join as Junior Infants or, subject to availability, in another year group.

Is there an Open Day?

Usually we hold an Open Day for prospective Junior Infants and their parents in early June.

What time does the school day start and finish?

School begins at 9:25am and the school day ends at 3:05pm.

Is there care before and after school?

Yes. With Tír na nÓg, the school offers pre-school care from about 8am, an Infant Hour from 2:05pm to 3:05pm for Junior and Senior Infants, and afterschool from 3:05pm to 6pm.

Do pupils wear a uniform?

Yes. We ask that pupils wear their full uniform to school each day.

How do I find the school?

From Ballina, take the Crossmolina road (N59) and travel 5 km to Knockanillaun crossroads. Turn right and travel 0.5 km; the school is on the right.
